Villa Le Balze
In a position with breathtaking views over Florence, along the old road that led to Fiesole, the villa is owned by and home to the prestigious Georgetown University. Built in 1912 in Neo-Renaissance style to a design by Cecil Pinsent and Geoffrey Scott, the villa is cultural and study centre. The name comes from the “terraced” structure of the park, which includes a formal garden with central pond and geometric flower beds with box hedges, a holly oak grove, a Mannerist grotto, a rose pergola and a grotto with mosaic-decorated sponge rock fountain. Dimensione Verde organised the park restoration works and is currently responsible for its management, keeping the charm of this wonderful location intact.
